Takeaway's From An #INBOUND15 Virgin

In Inbound Marketing, Event Recap

Becoming an inbound marketing specialist for 710 Studios over this past year has been an eye-opening experience for me. People are my business- I love being with people, relating, and making connections. How fitting for me to be involved with INBOUND since it's all about the human interaction. Heather and Michael surprised me a few weeks ago with a ticket to be part of the team at #INBOUND15; I was thrilled to be given the opportunity to embrace the INBOUND movement on a higher scale.

HubSpot Inbound 2015 Conference

Choosing from the hundreds of sessions offered at #INBOUND15 was a bit difficult to say the least...there were just too many I wanted to see all at the same time!  The sessions I ended up choosing were full of insight, from learning a bit more of myself as a person to gaining more in-depth awareness about inbound marketing, online presence, and being more connected with my customers in the various social media platforms.

Here is what resonated with me the most over the four days as an #INBOUND virgin:

  • How to make your content SUCCESSful:                                                                                     Simple, Unexpected, Concrete, Credible, Emotional, Suitable for our mobile, Stories (Will Critchlow, CEO of Distilled) [TWEET THIS]

When facing adversity, don’t unpack your bags…Keep. Moving…                                      (John Bonini, Growth director of Litmus) [TWEET THIS]

Twitter is the champion for the social platform that spurs the most growth.              (Michael Griffin, Channel Consultant, HubSpot) [TWEET THIS]

Content has to be created for human beings.

(Sonia Simone, Chief Content Officer, Copyblogger Media) [TWEET THIS]

The Content and the Conversation are a celebration of the customer and her experience. The customer’s experience is based on what you do.                                     (Sonia Simone, Chief Content Officer, Copyblogger Media) [TWEET THIS]

You have two ears and one mouth-you should be listening twice as much as talking. (Sonia Simone, Chief Content Officer, Copyblogger Media) [TWEET THIS]

Create content with real respect and love. If you don’t, it shows. Content without love is prostitution. It’s phony, slick, and without heart. Your audience will know. You have to bring your A-game and bring love to what you’re doing.                               (Sonia Simone, Chief Content Officer, Copyblogger Media) [TWEET THIS]

Re-frame and embrace failure and be okay with “Satisfice”. Perfection is NOT excellence. (Denise Jacobs, #banishyourcritic Founder + CEO, The Creative Dose) [TWEET THIS]

The customer’s narrative is what we should be interested in, not our own story.       (Shawn Pfunder, Editor in Chief, GoDaddy [TWEET THIS]

Best time to engage with someone is when they engage with you.                                   (Carole Mahoney, www.allboundassociates.com, Sales Coach) [TWEET THIS]

An #INBOUND virgin, no longer, but I'm always on the journey for learning more and becoming more with INBOUND. Here's to growth for Q4 and this upcoming year, and I hope to see you at #INBOUND16!
