Why You Need To Stop Ignoring Your Website

In Website Redesign, Marketing

Spring is finally making its presence known in Connecticut and soon we will be dusting off the lawn mower and gardening gloves or calling up the lawn service company to schedule the first cut of the season. Now imagine this spring that you decide to ignore your lawn and weeds in the gardens. You would still be able to go about your day without any problems, but what impression do you think you would be giving to your neighbors or passersby that don't know you? Does someone still live there? Why don't they take pride in what they own? Now instead of it being your overgrown and unkempt lawn, what if it was your website that you were ignoring? What kind of an impression are you giving your visitors and potential customers if you've ignored your website for years?

Is Anybody There?

Your website should be constantly evolving, interacting and growing. Visitors want to feel confident and comfortable before reaching a buying decision, but an inactive website creates doubt and gives off the wrong impression about your company. It's important to gear content around the pain points of your buyer personas and humanize your digital presence in order to build trust with your audience.

In order to stay active and help convert visitors into leads, you will want to include the following key elements to your website redesign:

  • Blog (1-2 posts per week)
  • Call-to-Action buttons
  • Lead Generating Offers (i.e. E-books, Free Trials)
  • Incorporate social media accounts

Make A Lasting First Impression

Now think back to my lawn analogy, and remember how influential first impressions can be.  Someone could have an awful looking lawn, but if you were to step inside their house, it could blow you away by its beauty. People will quickly leave your website based on the outdated appearance and/or lack of relevant content, all without knowing that they just missed out on the perfect solution for their problem and you missed out on a new customer.
